Another rumor is that Dave will be announcing an all new time slot that should work better for people wanting to participate during his shows with the new live video feeds on ustream.tv.  If you have yet to watch and listen to his show which is full of top quality guests with some of the best eCommerce business advice, then you and your business are missing out.  Speaking of quality guests, there will be some surprise guests calling in to participate in the anniversary celebration show that you won’t want to miss.

To top it all off there will be giveaways of all kinds.  Many regular listeners have provided Dave with a variety of products and services that he will be giving away during Saturday’s show.  I’ve heard there will be software, memberships, and some ad spots on a variety of popular websites that will all be offered as prizes for those participating in the anniversary celebration.  I have been informed that this information is just a brief summary of what will be going on and announced on Saturday, February 7th.  Make sure you tune in to hear all the great things that will only be announced during Dave White’s Basics to Business.

SEO and the use of Keywords for your eCommerce Solution

Everywhere you go on the web there is always talk about SEO and the use of keywords.  So many beginning Online eCommerce Sellers see this talked about and have absolutely no idea what people are talking about and so they just move on and say to themselves, “I will worry about that thing later.”

Graph of Store Promoter .net Traffic

Graph of Store Promoter .net Traffic

The simple fact is that learning what this is and what it can do for you as a seller is the one thing that every seller MUST know in order to even think about being successful on their eCommerce Solution with the sales of their products and their needs for potential buyers to be able to find their products in order to purchase them.

To the right is a sample graph of this sites traffic with the first two months showing that the site was there but I was not yet working with it.

For those who are relatively new in the eCommerce industry and are looking for solutions to poor sales, you will need to concentrate on doing research on the keywords or phrases that your more successful competition is using and learn how to get your products to show up in searches for the particular words that work for you products or service.

I know you are asking me, “OK, now how to I learn what to do?”

  • Load your favorite search engine and search for “SEO” or “Keyword Tools” or any term with relevance.  Maybe you will find a blog like, “Keywords: Are You Losing Money by Using the Wrong Ones?”, written by The Savvy Seller.  Although this is the step I have personally chosen to keep up-to-date on the industry, it is extremely time consuming and you have to learn to read between the lines.
  • Find a consulting company or professional SEO firm that specializes in this field.  When doing this please use extreme caution and do your research on the company.  There are many people claiming to be SEO experts, who really don’t know much about it at all.  In some cases they can even go overboard and get your website or store banned from search engines like Google.

Regardless of which route you choose you will always want to keep track of your performance by using a wealth of tools currently available on the web.  Here’s a link to a blog with a great list of some of the most popular tools for use with SEO and keyword analysis: Analytics Toolbox: 50+ More Ways to Track Website Traffic.  One of my best pieces of advice to you is to take it upon yourself to at least learn some of the first option, listed above, to prevent yourself from being taken advantage of.

Now I might add to this that when you are finding information on the web about this important tool, you will find countless articles and blogs and many of them do not agree with each other and many times they will contradict each other completely, as I have found on many occasions.  I’ve seen a number of articles talking about not using meta information in the header of your website.  I have personally found it to still be an important tool in winning the keyword search game.  However, this is a subject that I have not covered yet and will have to be saved for another day.

Whatever choices you might make do not expect results overnight as it may take some time for the search engines to pick up on the changes you have made.  In some cases it can take 3-6 months.  So, don’t be going and changing your terms around every day or even every week as far as that goes.  Be very patient and allow for the changes to be recognized and while you are waiting you can get to work using the appropriate keyword terms as hyperlinks back to your website or products preferrably in locations with relavancy (similar content or keywords) to your site to help the engines find those changes.

Times of Change in eCommerce Drives Creative Opportunities on Bonanzle

A couple of days ago I wrote a blog about how Dave White with Basics to Business announced the expansion of his platform to ustream.tv.  Now we have yet another new and creative idea hitting the eCommerce industry.

While many of us have already known about and have been watching the amazing progress of the Bonanzle Online Auction service with their high quality user support base and overall performance.  Little would we expect to see an actual Live Auction take place on this very platform.  Today we saw just that!

As the title of this blog suggests, “Times of Change in eCommerce Drives Creative Opportunities on Bonanzle”.  We are seeing many unique and successful advances with the creative talents who are trying out newly created concepts in eCommerce and having a great deal of success with these ideas.

Today I had the opportunity to join in with Auction Wally and watch as he had his very first Live Online Auction on the Bonanzle platform.  It was a uniquely creative idea that he had put together with a great deal of success, even with the audio delay issues caused by the normal audio buffering on Wally’s usual TalkShoe online talk radio platform.  As I expected, Auction Wally quickly adapted, with the assistance of the many who were in attendance of his auction today and made it a success!

Fortunately this trial took place with a company that offers a great deal of customer support to it’s users, and I would suspect that Bonanzle Mark and Auction Wally are hard at work trying to figure out how to make this useful idea go off without a hitch next time around.

Unfortunately I was unable to stay tuned in until the end of the sale, but would assume that Wally announced that he plans to be be back with the same concept in the very near future.  Who knows what exactly is up his sleeve right now, but this author for one would suspect that with Wally’s well known creative talents, he will be putting on another great auction with some refinements in the near future.

colderICE Teleseminar eCommerce interview w/ Dwight Miller

John (colderICE) Lawson

John (colderICE) Lawson

If you haven’t heard yet,  John Lawson otherwise known by many as colderICE, had yet another Talk Show with a guest who provided many enlightening details of the eCommerce and business industry.  John named his show and his blog, “Build Your Business w/ Dwight Miller : FREE ColderICE Teleseminar Tonight @ 7:30 pm“.  You will find a link to his TalkShoe hosting account on his blog where you will find many of his past shows as John has continued to rapidly progress.

The guests name for this eCommerce Teleseminar was Dwight Miller and he is the author of the, “How to Start a Business Backwards” concept.  Dwight has built several businesses and sold them.  One of which was sold to a large firm for millions.  Dwight absolutely floored the listeners of John’s show with his thoughts on the current eCommerce issues and his personal input of how to make intelligent and profitable business decisions during these difficult economic times.

While providing a level of straight talk that most seem to accept and understand, John along with Dwight brought forth details and strategies that have worked for Dwight throughout the years as he has ran his own businesses.  Everything from market analysis to marketing strategy was brought to the table to be talked about.  One particular issue that caught my attention is how to place value on yourself and the time you spend working with your business.  This is something that many never take into consideration.

I tried to listen back to the program today to make notes of the overwhelming amount of information that was discussed during the show, that ran overtime, but I found a note from John saying that he hopes to have the audio edited and posted on his site by Monday, January 26th.  A note to John Lawson from this author, I know of several people who are anxiously awaiting the release of your podcast of the entire show so we can have a chance to disect the information produced on Thursday’s show.  I will also be listening in for more great guests who come on your show to share a wealth of eCommerce Solutions and cover the many aspects of the industry.

ebayandbeyond ~ Basics to Business takes Talk Radio to Live Streaming Video

For some time now I have been looking for something to write my first blog about and tonight I found my answer while planning to listen to Basics to Business with Dave White.  Boy did I and everyone else get a welcomed surprise!

Dave White who has been the host and owner of eBay and Beyond ~ Basics to Business for nearly two years opened his show tonight with an announcement for everyone to visit a web address that he disclosed on the chat board.  Everyone clicked his link only to find Dave himself on video.  The new tool he was using was Live Streaming Video hosted on ustream.tv.  The video resolution was very good and the sound quality was even better than on other platforms currently being used by many online talk shoe hosts.

Tonight, January 22, 2009, Dave really impressed his listening and now watching audience with a successful test run of the new format for his shows.  There were a number of people attending tonights show and once the show was announced on Twitter there were several more that decided to join the show to see what all the fuss was about.

Tonight’s show was suppose to be about Twitter and the great tool that it is.  But, was overridden by the video format.  While there was some talk on the subject, most were sidetracked with the new opportunities being unveiled to them tonight as the listeners were entertained with Dave trying to toggle between two chat feeds and keep up with everything else going on.

About half way through the Live Streaming Video show Auction Wally of The Auction Wally Show decided to take a few moments to call in and voice his excitement for Dave and the new show format.

The great thing about this style of show is that it will allow Dave to better serve his listeners with a much larger venue.  Dave took a few moments to discuss some of his planned uses for the Video Stream of the show and they included the ability to provide his advertising clients with a chance to visually promote their products with the use of this visual aid.  There are just way too many opportunities that this new leap into technology will provide Dave White and his show that I can’t get them all into this little blog.  I wouldn’t want to give his competition any jump on him either.

Overall the show was a huge success for all!  The comments and compliments just flowed all night to let Dave know that this was the way of the future for eBay and Beyond ~ Basics to Business Talk Radio.
